Monk Eusebius, the God fearing

In 1896 people found a standing skeleton with an iron ring around the neck and a chain fixed on the wall of the vault in the ruin of the old monastery. This find can be seen in the town museum. Because of vice and sin he had been left there 600 years ago where he finally died.

Being the only old ghost of the Middle Ages and with the mercy of our Lord he is allowed to tell people from near and far, young and old, man and woman, rich and poor about his wonderful town, walk with them through the romantic lanes and report about mysterious, funny and cruel things of his time.

A humorous and serious time travel through the 1000-year-old town

A guided walking tour including history, life in a monastery and stories about love, hatred, betrayal and war.

Every Tuesday at 9 p.m. and Thursday at 8 p.m. Eusebius starts his walk, lasting 90 minutes. Men and women pay 10,00 €, children 5,00 €.

Individual tours at other times can be arranged on demand at a price of 100 € in English (up to 25 people). Surcharge per additional person over this limit 2 €.

Long time travelling with Monk Eusebius

Do you enjoy a leisurely walking tour, up and down the small hills around the town with spectacular and picturesque views of the towers, churches and fortifications of Bautzen that includes history and stories of the 1,000-year-old place and a picnic with delicious bread, tasty curd cheese, smoked meat, vegetables, cheese and wine?

This can be booked for at least 8 people for Sundays at 10.30 p.m. (earliest)

A reservation is necessary by the Friday before as well as suitable clothes.

Prices for walking tour in Englisch: 15 € per person plus 6.50 € for the picnic.

Duration: approx. 3,5 hours for about 6 kms
